Ghana Tech Lab, Ghana’s digital innovation hub has ended its web development training program with the Accra West Start-up Summit. This was to give participating trainees the opportunity to gain and share knowledge and propose innovative digital ideas to attendees.
The 22 newly trained attendees, were taken through several courses in web development. The two phased program saw trainees taking a 4-week training and skill acquisition and 2 weeks ideation, where trainees developed tech solutions to eradicate issues in the industry.
Participating trainees put into teams of 2 were tasked to pitch in a mini competition held at the event, new web applications, and mobile applications for problem solving. Two teams, XtraCash and House Hunt, after collation of results stood out, qualifying for the next stage of the competition of the National Start-up Investment Pitch Summit.
Mr. Edward Akani, Managing Associate of Ghana Tech Lab, speaking at the event expressed his joy in the success of the event and applauded trainees on how far they had come, urging them to make good use of the web development skills they had been taught.
Teams XtraCash and House Hunt developed a freelancer’s app aimed at reducing the rate of unemployment and an app to help tertiary students secure affordable off-campus accommodation, respectively.
Both teams will be going through training and grooming for the National Summit while other participants have access to internship opportunities in companies in the industry.
